I understand that Townhall is a predominantly Right Leaning blog forum. I truly believe that the issues related to National Defense and more importantly the Global War on Terror (including Iraq and AF) are not PARTISAN issues. They are AMERICAN issues.
I am clearly right leaning in my views but that has no bearing on the message I am trying to convey with this blog. I want left leaning Veterans to get involved as well. I would rather see two Veterans arguing across the aisle rather than 2 non-veterans. I have watched veterans on both sides put party politics in front of making the correct choice for supporting the troops and winning the war. I disagree with partisan politics taking precedence in a time of war.
I am not targeting Republicans or Democrats. I am targeting Veterans and Veterans fall into both categories. In terms of the war, veterans know the importance of completing the mission and that winning the war in Iraq is the correct course of action. I want all Veterans to get involved and have a voice in the system whether they agree with me or not.
This is a non-partisan issue and we need leaders who will not play politics. I may be dreaming of a world many in Washington do not believe is possible but to them I ask one question. Why are you still in Washington? Please step down and let new, fresh leadership take our beloved country forward. Let go of your grasp on power and realize that the country needs to end the stalemate between the dinosaurs of Washington and empower the next generation of leadership.
